non-fiction

These are somewhat organized by the Dewey Decimal System. I personally find this system to be lacking (it makes it difficult to place/locate intersectional or interdisciplinary texts and has a tendency to segregate works from certain identities into their own sections while treating white, male, cis, straight, abled authors/subjects as the default), and have been considering other ways of organizing my non-fiction collection that would fit my particular needs better. (I especially take issue with how 220-289 are all dedicated to subtopics of Christianity while all other religions are relegated to the 290s, AKA, "other religions"... ugh). As I work on that project, I'm using this system in the meantime simply because I'm already familiar with it, given that it's what we use at the library I work at. Not all of my numbering is standard and typically doesn't exceed the tenth place, as I've found remaining more generalized is better for smaller collections.

I utilized LibraryThing to figure out the most commonly used call numbers for various titles.
