USAmericans - Tell Congress No War On Iran! (THIS WEEK)
Write letters to your representatives demanding that they do everything in their power to prevent further senseless violence in Iran, starting with voting "Yes" on the War Powers Resolution which would (theoretically) block further military attacks.
USAmericans - Protect Trans Youth and the Freedom to Read!
A bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives under the name of the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act" (H.R.7661). This seems like a noble cause, but it's a smokescreen meant to facilitate the banning of books about transgender people and themes from school libraries, as part of their definition of "sexually oriented material" includes anything that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism." Sign this petition to voice your opposition to this bill, and, if you have the means, send the postcards to your representatives (the option to do this comes up after you sign the petition).
Read the American Library Association's statement on the bill Here.
Oregonians - Protect Our Forests! (BEFORE MAR. 23)
The Bureau of Land Management is attempting to gut the protections which have preserved Oregon's old-growth forests, waterways, and wildlife for decades - all so that they can quadruple timber harvests. What the fuck?? If you live here in Oregon, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this article to submit a comment before March 23rd. The cowards are refusing to hold a public meeting on the matter but we can make ourselves heard anyway. If you don't live in Oregon but know somebody who does, please share this with them.
Trans People & Those With Trans Loved Ones Living in Kansas - Check Out the Trans Continental Pipeline!
In light of the Kansas government literally revoking trans people's driver's licenses, many trans Kansans may be looking for other places to live. KS's western neighbor, Colorado, is particularly queer-friendly, and there is an organization called the Trans Continental Pipeline which helps people move there. If you are a trans person looking to move somewhere that will do a better job protecting your rights, check this out; if you have a trans loved one who is struggling in an oppressive region (ie. Kansas), share this option with them and offer to help; and even if none of these apply to you, check out their website to see what they do and perhaps donate to them if you have the means. I'll place the link to this site in my link garden so that anyone can still find it even if/when this billboard posting is taken down.
Do you have a protest, mutual aid project, boycott, petition, letter-writing campaign, or other effort that you are working on in response to an injustice? Let me know at marrsher@proton.me so I can add it to this billboard. I also keep links to important projects and resources in my link garden under the "get involved/stay safe" heading, so check those out, too. Much love - Marley
