Nice to meet you, stranger! I’m Marley, your local chronically bedraggled and hopelessly esoteric hermit. I fear the rest of this site may create the impression that I’m a very serious person, but I promise I’m mostly just a silly lil’ guy in real life.

I was born in the heart of the beautiful-yet-ominous Great Plains, but for the past decade I’ve lived happily amidst the ferns, moss, and big ol’ trees of the Pacific Northwest. I’ve got a B.A. in English literature and I’m currently studying for a Master’s in Library & Information Sciences so that I can become a librarian someday. For now, I’m an on-call library aide. If money were of no concern, I would have pursued folklore studies – but either way, I’m studying how information is transmitted and shared between humans, so it’s not all that different, is it?

I’m also an aspiring writer of long-form fiction, and I make and distribute zines with my best friends under the name of "Mold Collective."

In the end, I’m not really sure who I am. (Who is, really?) Over the past few years, I’ve been working on detaching my sense of identity from static personality traits and focusing instead on my values. I’ve discovered curiosity is my highest value, along with community and kinship. I’ve also tried time and again to believe in various things (my academic interest in religion and spiritual experience is partly driven by envy, since I have thus far been incapable of having these experiences myself), but have begrudgingly resigned to the fact of my existentialism. The only things I seem capable of accepting as true are love and math.

Anything else you want to know about me can probably be gleaned from this website, since it’s all about collecting all of the things I like and create in one place. If you still have questions, feel free to shoot me an email at marsher3110@gmail.com, or send a message in the site chatbox. I may take a while to respond, but I promise I won’t bite.
